Abstract

Fire is one of the greatest discoveries of mankind. Apart from its destructive nature, there is a tremendous importance to live life. The grasp of the power of the fire has moved people to use it effectively. The fire is sometimes a weapon that turns the world to an ash, sometimes it is the basis of discoveries that make life easier. Fire, according to ancient Greek belief, together with water, air and soil, form the four basic elements, and every substance in the nature comes from these four elements. The fire, which is regarded as the main source of life, has received a righteous fear and respect in human life together with the hazards it contains. Throughout history, many events have been used in which barbaric fire has been used. II. The burning of millions of people and contemporary works of art in World War II is one of the most tragic examples of history. French artist Yves Klein is one of the contemporaries who use fire as an element in artistic creation. The "Fire-Color 1 (FC1)" performance of Yves Klein in the 1960s has emerged as an artistic attitude that should be considered in art history. "Fire-Color 1" is interpreted as a summary of Klein's many different thoughts and expressions that fit into his short life and art career. FC1, the final work of Klein's short life, is now among the world's most expensive artworks. This work is not only a valuable work of art, but also helps to understand all the traditions that exist. While the work called FC1 carries the aesthetic heritage of the past from one side, the other side leads us to search for a new form and material. This article; will use fire as an alternative material in the use of different materials in art and will examine Yves Klein's work named "Fire-Color 1 (FC1)". At the same time, fire, which we are used to seeing in the destructive world and lynch actions we live in, will point to how creative people are being used through reason and skill.
